What is a DIY workshop at The Design Station?

At a DIY workshop, you are guided as you create unique wooden home décor or gift items with a design of your choice. We help you have a unique social event for with your friends by providing all of the materials for your chosen make-and-take project, and we assist you each step of the way. You can sign up for one of the open classes or schedule a private event.

I’m not a “Crafter”, are you sure I can do this?

Yes! The staff will guide you through each project to make sure your creation is just as you imagined, and more! All skill levels are welcome. You will be so proud and surprised at what you can create!

How do I sign up for classes?

To register for a workshop, please sign up under the Registration tab. Select the event, the item you want to create, and complete the payment and registration information.

How do I schedule a private event?

If you are interested in hosting a private event, please email or call 612-209-2661 to discuss details and options available.

Do I have to pick my projects ahead of time?

Yes. Our workshops require pre-registration so that we can have adequate time to prep and customize your materials. All of the options will be available as you register for your selected workshop online.

I don’t see what I want; can I make a custom design?

Yes, we are able to create custom sayings or personalization on designs for an extra charge, depending on the design. To guarantee availability, all guests must be registered and request made at least 2 days prior to your event.

Are there benefits to being a hostess?

As a hostess, with 6 or more preregistered guests, you will receive $10 off your class.

Do you accommodate large groups?

We sure do! We can accommodate 35 or more during the winter months and even more in the summer! We also offer private workshops for groups, office parties, team building, bridal or baby showers, or any reason you can think of! Contact us to help plan your event!

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes before the workshop to check-in so we can begin on time.

How long does a workshop last?

Average time for a workshop is 2 to 2 ½ hours.

What do I wear?

Wear something comfortable. We provide aprons to help protect your clothing, but you will be working with paint and could still get some on yourself.

What ages are welcome?

Most of our workshops are adult friendly. We do have projects geared towards kids, and those will be noted on the workshop description.

What do I need to bring?

We provide ALL of the materials for each project offered. You may bring food and beverages, or have food delivered/catered if you wish. Bottled water will be available.

Can I bring alcohol?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own beer, wine, etc. We do not provide alcohol, and you must be at least 21 years old, which is the legal drinking age in the state of Minnesota. (More details are in our liability waiver.)

Can I schedule a workshop at another location?

Yes, we will consider taking Design Station, LLC workshops to other locations based on date availability, distance and number of guests. Please email us your request.

Your event center is beautiful! Can I rent your space for a private event?

Yes, our facility is available to rent based on availability. Please contact us by email to discuss fees and details.

What is your refund policy?

There is a NO REFUND POLICY for workshops at The Design Station, LLC. Registration cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance of a workshop will be granted a class credit for a future class. In the rare case a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, we will notify you as soon as possible, and your registration will be credited toward any future workshop.
